As summer vacations are dwindling down and Starbucks seasonal fall drinks are around the corner, our brides planning for a 2018 wedding will be saying “I do” in no time! That’s why we compiled a list of the biggest wedding trends expected for 2018 to get your bridal brains flowing with inspiration. From food to florals, we've got you covered on what will make your 2018 wedding spectacular!
Centerpieces: Sky is the Limit
Do you ever see those grand and over the top table centerpieces in pictures and think “Oh wow those are gorgeous, but I couldn’t possibly have that at my wedding...”? Tall centerpieces are becoming acceptable for any venue and will open up a small space by adding depth with height. Not into florals? Candles, lanterns, feather bouquets and even curly willow branches would make show stopping centerpieces and not to mention, amazing pictures!
Color Palette: 50 shades of Neutrals
The various neutral color palette really took off in 2017 but is only here to stay through 2018. The “mis-matched” look of decor and dresses is actually very beautiful and gives any wedding a bit of a romantic and rustic feel. Not to mention, if something is out of place, your guests will more than likely not notice.
Guests Will Love: The Unexpected Details
Everyone loves a good story of “how the bride and groom met” or “how he proposed”. Why not incorporate subtle details of your love story into the decor? For instance, maybe the two of you are travel maniacs- make your guest sign in book be a map or globe! You could even mark all the spots you’ve been and the places you dream to go!
Food: Seasonal and Local For the Win
Farm to fork is becoming a huge trend across the country for many reasons. People are finally realizing how in-season food not only tastes better but is economically and environmentally sound. Your guests will be blown away knowing they are biting into something local and fresh! Yes, local can be a tad more pricey but not every bite has to be. Maybe feature only one or two food bars. If your wedding is near the coast, consider a fresh crab leg or oyster bar. And don't forget you can incorporate local and fresh foods into fun drinks too!
Not only will your invites be one of a kind but your guests will love receiving something they know represents you and your fiancé. Maybe there is a certain city you two fell in love that would make a stunning skyline to be drawn or maybe there’s a saying you want on your bridesmaid cards that will make everyone laugh. Whatever your style, creatively customized cards are only becoming more and more appreciated among brides and their guests. We are currently obsessing over our own Richmond based paper extraordinaire, English Tea Paperie, specializing in watercolors, venue paintings, custom maps, and gold foil letterpress printing. Her ability to capture her client’s ideas through watercolor designs are so fun and romantic!
The Bride Wore What? Millennial Blue
For some time now, we’ve seen blush pink wedding gowns walk down the aisle. But what about baby blue? Yes, the millennial blue which ranges from a delicate shade of baby to a mature dusty hue is going to be seen in 2018, and we have to say, we are LOVING it! There is something so Cinderella esque and enchanting about the color, and while a full on blue gown is not for everyone, don’t be afraid to try this new trend with your accessories!
